The one shown here is the "Souke Aoi," the crest handed down in the head family of the Tokugawa clan. It differs subtly from other hollyhock crests. The crest is managed by the Tokugawa Memorial Foundation. Should the opportunity arise, please compare it with other varieties.
継宗の儀The Succession Ceremony
令和5年1月30日、德川家の菩提寺である増上寺にて、当主就任の儀式「継宗の儀」がとり行われ、約400人が参列しました。On 30 January 2023, the succession ceremony was held at Zōjō-ji temple, the family temple of the Tokugawa clan, attended by approximately 400 people.

約500年にわたる家の継続Five Centuries of Continuity
16世紀初頭 · Early 16th Century
三河・松平郷に興った松平氏が、徳川家康公（1543年生）の代に「徳川」へと昇華。関ヶ原（1600年）を経て天下統一。The Matsudaira clan of Mikawa rose under Tokugawa Ieyasu (b. 1543), taking the Tokugawa name. After the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Ieyasu unified the country under his rule.
1603 — 江戸幕府開府 · Founding of the Edo Shogunate
徳川家康公が江戸幕府を開く。265年にわたる泰平の世が始まる。世界史においても稀有な「平和な武士の時代」。Tokugawa Ieyasu established the Edo shogunate, inaugurating 265 years of peace — a period rare in world history as an era of peaceful samurai.
1868 — 明治維新 · Meiji Restoration
大政奉還により江戸幕府が終焉。德川宗家は公爵家・文化的権威として継続し、歴史と正当性は現代へと引き継がれる。The Edo shogunate ended with the restoration of imperial rule. The Tokugawa family continued as a ducal family and cultural authority, its historical legitimacy enduring to the present.
2023 — 第十九代当主継承 · 19th Succession
德川家広が正式に德川宗家第十九代当主として家督を継承。歴史的資産の保護と江戸期に育まれた文化の現代的継承に取り組んでいます。Iehiro Tokugawa formally succeeded as the 19th Head of the House of Tokugawa Shogun, working to protect the family's heritage and connect Edo-period culture with contemporary society.
